A lot of people experience pain in the lower back. The possiblity is high, that this has to do with the psoas muscle. The psoas is a big core muscle, that connects the upper with the lower body.
It rises out of our human center and it gives us signals for surviving. Every time when our integrity is being threatened, this muscle can give disruptions or blockages.
Taoists speak of the psoas as the seat of the soul. This muscle is also responsible for holding the trauma response system (fight-or-flight response).
Sedentary lifestyles, poor posture, and emotional suppression can accumulate tension in the hip and lower back region.
A flexible and strong psoas grounds us and allows subtle energies to flow through the bones, muscles and joints.
In our essence we’re energy/prana/chi. To keep this energy flowing and avoid blockages we can connect to our center and keep moving.
In this workshop you connect with your psoas by doing specific yoga postures which will lead to a deep relaxation of your psoas muscle.
Program:
- Yoga postures for knowing what and where the psoas is in the body, followed by strengthening and stimulating the psoas muscle.
- After these postures, the psoas muscle is able to release tension and a long relaxation of the psoas will follow.
- At the end of the workshop we’ ll give a Yoga nidra experience in which you can set affirmations for yourself or others.
